From the land of Helvetia they bring you a feast of mercilessly wild Celtic
dancing:
Eluveitie. Formed in 2003 as a studio-project the band decided to
play rough, hard and straight from the heart coming metal, mixed with
mystical, primordial Celtic folk-music. In some of the lyrics
Eluveitie use
Helvetic Gaulish, a more or less forgotten language, originally spoken by
the ancient celtic clan of the Helvetians. Also
Eluveitie is a Gaulish name
and means 'I am the Helvetian'.

Not only the traditional lyrics, but also the use of many different
traditional instruments makes
Eluveitie a very interesting band. Maybe
that's the reason why their debut EP '
Vên' sold out within a couple of
months. After forming a real band and playing some shows, including one as
support act for
Skyforger, the band signed to
Fear Dark. In 2004 the Dutch
label did a re-release of '
Vên' (CATALOG # FD014) with some new recordings,
some new artwork and a complete new mastering.
In 2005 Europe got known
Eluveitie, as the band joined the
Fear Dark
Festivals through Germany and Holland. They also played as support-act with
bands such as
Cruachan and
Korpiklaani. Besides touring
Eluveitie recorded a
song to join a Tribute to
Falkenbach.
At the moment
Eluveitie is writing new songs for their upcoming full-length
album ‘
Spirit’, which will be released by
Fear Dark in 2006.
Travis Smith
(
Opeth,
Nevermore,
Anathema) will make artwork for this cd. Expect a new
masterpiece of Celtic pagan metal…
